The best thing about using soy wax to make our candles are they last long, they hold the fragrance oils well and of course, they burn clean leaving your space feeling incredibly fresh!

Here are some candle care tips and tricks to help you make the most out of your clean-burning soy wax candle.

Handmade soy wax candle

The first time

When lighting either a wooden wick or cotton wick candle for the first time, allow the wax to melt to the edge till the candle is all liquid - this may take between 30 to 60 mins. This stage is prominent to avoid leaving soy wax around the edges of the jar - which is called tunnelling, allowing the soy wax to burn to the edge will create a natural even burn the next time you light your candle.

Trim the Wick

After lighting your candle allow it to cool down before trimming the wick. This can simply be done by snipping off the burnt parts of the wick, you can use your fingers or a wick trimmer - both will do the job just fine. Trimming your wick will ensure optimal burn and keep the flame strong.

How to fix a tunnelling candle

If your candle is tunnelling due to shorter burns, the best way to reset the memory of the wax is to keep the candle lit until the wax is melted to the edge. However, if the candle has a low flame and the candle is not burning evenly because there is too much wax - soak up some of the extra soy wax with a paper towel.

Know your limits

Recommended burn time is about 3-4 hours (max). We use the most fragrant oils and pure essential oils in your candles to ensure they fill the room when they have been lit therefore, they don’t need to be left to burn for very long.
